Undergraduate Research Project

Economically Viable Mechanism for Electrification in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA): Electrification is critically important for empowering individuals and communities in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). However, the progress toward ensuring access to electricity in SSA, especially in rural areas and informal communities, remains far behind schedule since existing techniques lack economic viability. This project develops a principled incentive mechanism to promote the economic viability of mini-grids, a technique to provide electricity access to customers isolated from the main grid.
